چکیده

10 Influence of phase composition, structural peculiarities and grain size of Fe2O3–SnO2 nanocomposites prepared by sol–gel technology on gas-sensitive properties of the corresponding gas sensors has been studied in the paper. The characteristics of thin film sensors were obtained with regards to NO2 and C2H5OH. Behaviour of thick film sensors was estimated in humid C2H5OH ambient. High sensitivity of Fe2O3–SnO2 samples containing highly dispersive Fe2O3 phase has been revealed. The composites consisting of poorly crystallised -Fe2O3 along with Sn(IV)– -Fe2O3 solid solution demonstrate maximum sensitivity to ethanol. Structural and functional distinctions of the Fe2O3–SnO2 composites obtained by using different Fe-precursors (Fe3+ and Fe2+ inorganic salts) have been revealed. Mechanisms of the processes, which determine gas-sensitive behaviour of the composites, are considered. 11

Preparation of Mesoporous and/or Macroporous SnO2-Based Powders and Their Gas-Sensing Properties as Thick Film Sensors

Mesoporous and/or macroporous SnO(2)-based powders have been prepared and their gas-sensing properties as thick film sensors towards H(2) and NO(2) have been investigated. The mesopores and macropores of various SnO(2)-based powders were controlled by self-assembly of sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate and polymethyl-methacrylate (PMMA) microspheres (ca. 800 nm in diameter), respectively. Nanocrystalline SnO2:F Thin Films for Liquid Petroleum Gas Sensors

This paper reports the improvement in the sensing performance of nanocrystalline SnO(2)-based liquid petroleum gas (LPG) sensors by doping with fluorine (F). Un-doped and F-doped tin oxide films were prepared on glass substrates by the dip-coating technique using a layer-by-layer deposition cycle (alternating between dip-coating a thin layer followed by a drying in air after each new layer). Th...

Thickness Dependence of Sensitivity in Thin Film Tin Oxide Gas Sensors Deposited by Vapor Pyrolysis

Transparent SnO2 thin films were deposited on porcelain substrates using a chemical vapor deposition technique based on the hydrolysis of SnCl4 at elevated temperatures. A reduced pressure self-contained evaporation chamber was designed for the process where the pyrolysis of SnCl4 at the presence of water vapor was carried out. Resistive gas sensors were fabricated by providing ohmic contacts o...

Acetylene Gas-Sensing Properties of Layer-by-Layer Self-Assembled Ag-Decorated Tin Dioxide/Graphene Nanocomposite Film

This paper demonstrates an acetylene gas sensor based on an Ag-decorated tin dioxide/reduced graphene oxide (Ag-SnO₂/rGO) nanocomposite film, prepared by layer-by-layer (LbL) self-assembly technology. The as-prepared Ag-SnO₂/rGO nanocomposite was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman spectrum. The acetylene...
